Overview:
Escape to Lake Manyara National Park, a breathtaking natural haven located at the base of the Great Rift Valley. This compact yet diverse park is renowned for its rich tapestry of wildlife and incredible birdlife, offering a perfect one-day getaway from Arusha. Spanning 330 square kilometers, Lake Manyara is home to iconic animals, including elephants, lions, and the famous tree-climbing lions, as well as over 350 bird species, including flocks of flamingos that color the shores pink.

Itinerary:

Early Morning

• Pickup from Arusha: Start your adventure with a 6:00 a.m. pickup from your Arusha hotel. From there, we embark on a scenic 130 km (about 1.5 hours) drive to Lake Manyara National Park. As we make our way to the park, enjoy the sight of the stunning landscapes shaped by the Great Rift Valley.

Mid-Morning

• Arrival at Lake Manyara National Park: Upon arrival, we begin our game drive, traversing the park’s diverse habitats, from groundwater forests to grassy floodplains. Your guide will help you spot an array of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, and various primates like baboons and vervet monkeys. Keep your eyes peeled for the tree-climbing lions that Lake Manyara is famous for!

Afternoon

• Picnic Lunch: Midday, we’ll take a break to enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the natural beauty of the park. Enjoy your meal with a view, surrounded by lush vegetation and perhaps even the sight of flamingos along the lake’s edge.
• Optional Canoeing Activity: For an additional fee, opt for a guided canoeing excursion on the lake (seasonal), offering a unique vantage point to spot hippos, aquatic birds, and the scenic surroundings from the water.

Late Afternoon

• More Game Viewing: After lunch, you and your guide can explore more of the park’s northern or southern regions, depending on your interests and the wildlife activity at that time. Each area provides a unique view of Lake Manyara’s diverse flora and fauna, with chances to see elephants, warthogs, and even migratory bird species.
• Return to Arusha: By late afternoon, we’ll start our return journey to Arusha, aiming to arrive at your hotel between 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., marking the end of an exhilarating day in one of Tanzania’s most picturesque parks.
