Experience two extraordinary sides of Tanzania on this unforgettable 15 Days Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday with Woodland Trek & Safaris, your locally based safari specialist in Arusha, Tanzania. This carefully designed journey takes you from the elephant filled landscapes of Tarangire to the endless plains of the Serengeti, through the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater and colourful communities of Mto wa Mbu, before flying across the mainland to the tropical shores of Zanzibar.
Your adventure begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where the warmth of Tanzania welcomes you from the moment you arrive. After meeting your Woodland Trek & Safaris representative, you will travel to Arusha, the famous gateway to Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit.
Your first wildlife destination is Tarangire National Park, a wilderness covering approximately 2,850 square kilometres. Here, giant baobab trees rise above golden savannah while large elephant families move between seasonal swamps and the life giving Tarangire River. Lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes and numerous antelope species complete the classic African safari scene.
From Tarangire, your journey continues through the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands and into Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries. Covering approximately 14,763 square kilometres, the Serengeti is a vast landscape of grasslands, acacia woodland, river systems and rocky kopjes where predators and prey have followed ancient rhythms for generations.
You first enter Central Serengeti, particularly the wildlife rich Seronera region. Permanent water sources make this area rewarding throughout the year, attracting elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and numerous predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas.
Your safari then travels deeper into the wilderness toward Northern Serengeti, where rolling plains and river valleys surround the Kogatende and Mara River areas. During the seasonal Great Migration period, large herds of wildebeests and zebras may gather across this region as they follow fresh grazing and water.
A complete day in Northern Serengeti gives you valuable time to follow wildlife movements without rushing. The famous Mara River crossings may occur during the migration season, although these dramatic natural events are unpredictable and can never be guaranteed.
After returning south through Central Serengeti, your safari leads to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, a volcanic caldera covering approximately 260 square kilometres. Descending around 600 metres into the crater opens a completely different safari world where lions, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, spotted hyenas and the endangered black rhinoceros may be encountered.
Your journey then becomes cultural as you explore Mto wa Mbu, a lively agricultural community beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Local markets, banana plantations, farms, workshops and traditional food offer an opportunity to discover Tanzania beyond the national parks.
After your mainland safari, you will fly from Arusha to the tropical island of Zanzibar, where the pace changes from game drives to warm Indian Ocean breezes.
Unguja, commonly called Zanzibar Island, covers approximately 1,666 square kilometres and combines white sand beaches, coral reefs, historic towns, spice plantations, tropical forests and centuries of Swahili cultural heritage.
Your Zanzibar exploration introduces you to the historic alleys of Stone Town, the spice plantations that earned Zanzibar its famous Spice Island identity, the forests of Jozani, turquoise waters around Mnemba, beautiful northern and eastern beaches and traditional dhow sailing experiences.
The final days create the perfect contrast to the adventure of the mainland. After mornings spent searching for lions and elephants, you now wake to palm trees and the sound of the Indian Ocean.
Designed for honeymooners, couples, families, photographers, wildlife lovers and travellers seeking a Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday, this itinerary offers the perfect combination of wildlife, culture, adventure and beach relaxation.
With Woodland Trek & Safaris, you experience Tanzania from the dust of the Serengeti plains to the soft white sands of Zanzibar, creating one journey and countless stories to carry home.
